EthioIndex to webcast a LIVE Internet audio call-in dialog in Amharic titled "The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) & Ethiopia: Current issues and awareness"

May 11, 2003 (EthioIndex.com) EthioIndex is proud to announce an upcoming webcast titled "African Growth and Opportunities Act (AGOA) & Ethiopia: current issues and awareness" to be held Sunday May 18, 2003 at 3 PM Easter Time (New York). The webcast will be transmitted live at http://www.ethioindex.com.

In the two years since the passage of the act, only one Ethiopian company is known to have exported under AGOA to the US market at a value of about US $822,000 in 1994 E. C. (Source: Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce). It should be noted that Ethiopia's total export to the U.S. in 2001 was around $19.1 Million dollars (Source: Ethiopian Export Promotion Agency). To discuss AGOA, address current issues with the implementation of the act, its limitations, possible disadvantages and opportunities, EthioIndex is honored and privileged to present Ethiopian experts and leaders who have worked in the area for this one-hour dialog.

Our guests include Ato. Gizaw Molla, Director General of the Ethiopian Export Promotion Agency (EEPA) (Addis Ababa), Wozero Mimi Alemayehou, ALINC (ALINC is an acronym for AGOA Linkages in COMESA), Program Manager, US International Executive Service Corps (Washington, D.C.) and Ato. Kebour Ghenna, Executive Director, Initiative Africa and past president of Ethiopian & Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce (Addis Ababa). Getachew Bellete a veteran author and columnist will host the show and Senait Loulou is the program producer along with volunteers from EthioIndex.

The program is scheduled for Sunday, May 18, 2003 3:00 - 4:00 PM (EST).
