Zambia: Food exporter gains US FDA export license
Sylvia Professional Catering Services Limited has acquired a Food and Drug Administration export certificate that will allow the company to export over 6, 000 products to the United States market under the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
Company managing director Sylva Banda said that the certificate would allow her company to export as many products as it could to the US market without trade barriers and for as long as they meet the market standards.
Ms Banda said that the acquiring of The FDA certificate was a plus for her company as this would increase its exports to that market.
“Am happy to tell you that we have now acquired a FDA export certificate, this certificate allows us as a company to export more of our products to the US market for as long they met the required market standards, we got this certificate two months ago,” she said.
In an interview, Ms Banda said that the certificate allows the export of over 6, 000 products and that it would consequently let the
company to significantly increase its export volumes to that market.
“It is important to note that this certificate we got is for our company but we are also in the process of getting one for the African Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme (AWEP),” she said.
She said the certificate would in a way facilitate for increased export base for her company to the US market thereby growing the exports volumes for the country as a whole.
Sylva Professional Catering Services is exporting to the American market dried food, vegetables and canned Zambian products, among others.
