Bilateral Investment Treaties (BIT)
This section covers the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between the United States and Sub-Saharan African countries. BITs are agreements concluded between two States which define the broad terms and conditions under which private individuals and companies invest in each others territories. The United States has to date concluded a number of BITs with various countries, including African countries. The stated basic aims of this BIT program includes the following key objectives:

Congo - United States (BIT)
Bilateral Investment Treaty between Congo (Brazzaville) and the United States. Signed February 12, 1990; Entered into Force August 13, 1994. 102nd CONGRESS 1st Session
Congo (DRC) - United States (BIT)
Bilateral Investment Treaty between Rwanda and the United States. Signed August 3, 1984; Entered into force July 28, 1989.
Rwanda - United States (BIT)
Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) between United States and Rwanda. It was signed on 19 February 2008 and entered into force on 1 January 2012.
