The Nigerian Minister of Commerce, Ambassador Idris Waziri, has called on investors and stakeholders to harmonise their operations to fully benefit from the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

Ambassador Waziri made this call when he received the special assistant to the President on AGOA, Mrs. G.M. Sasore, yesterday in his office.

He said that the stakeholders have a significant role to play in the take-off of AGOA, noting that it took the government two years to create the enabling Act and what remains is for the stakeholders to promote trade between Nigerian and the United States of America.

He stressed that Nigerian entrepreneurs need to have access to the United States (US) market, assuring that the market has great potentials for Nigerian and US investors.

He pledged to link them up with the US market, especially through the Would Trade Organisation (WTO), which he said has overwhelming trade development programmes, adding that AGOA will be encouraged to increase productivity thro-ugh investments.

He pointed out that the ministry and AGOA office are anxious to promote Nigerian businesses, adding that strategic working collaboration between both organisations is very important.

Responding, the Special Assistant expressed delight that the National Assembly has signed into law the Act which mandates her office to achieve its objectives of trade development.
